Gary:
What are you doing there then kieran?

Kieran:
There's a few scratches along here, they are only fine abrasions. I'm doing a bit of paint correction there just to get it looking better.

Gary:
What's that in aid of? Why are you doing?

Kieran:
This is a lease car which we inspected today, and there are scratches along here which are beyond Fair Wear & Tear, they are beyond 2.5cm so I'm doing paintwork correction here to reduce them down to get them through a lease return.

Gary:
And will that be acceptable?

Kieran:
It will be acceptable once it's done.

Gary:
Is it a permanent repair?

Kieran:
it is a permanant repair, yes.

Gary:
So we aren't hiding anything?

Kieran:
Not at all, no.

Gary:
And Matt's doing something around the other side isn't her?

Kieran:
He's doing a Smart Repair.

Gary:
Smart Repair! What do we have here? Had a bit of a scuff didn't it?

Matt:
Yep. Small scuff on the corner, taken a few chunks out, must have hit a wall or something.

Gary:
Ok, that obviously wasn't acceptable from a fair-wear-and-tear point of view, so it's going back, the fella has had it inspected today and we have gone ahead and done it, he's agreed to do everything that needs doing.

Matt:
yep, he's agreed to have everything repaired.

Gary:
A few little nick-knacks on the car that needs doing and then we'll get him through.

Matt:
Yeah, no trouble at all.

Gary:
I'd like to have a look at that when you've done it.

***

Gary:
What are these stickers here then?

Kieran:
Theyare basically dents, stickers to show the dents. There are three on this panel.

Gary:
Oh yeah, I can see them in the light now. And there isn't acceptable is it?

Kieran:
It's not no, he's having these two done and leaving the top one.

Gary:
There is no point in doing all three -- just doing what's necessary then. Okay and what's this sticker here then?

Kieran:
There's a very light scuff there. It's something the customer could probably do themself which is what I have advised. But I'm doing it by machine, he's letting us do it basically.

Gary:
Oh right. So he's going for less agro. But you have advised him he could do it himself.

Kieran:
I have indeed yes.

Gary:
What else? Anything else wrong with it?

Kieran:
There's a cosmetic repair down there on the driver's door. Again something we can do, basically tidy it up.

Gary:
What about his tyres, are they okay?

Kieran:
All the tyres are good, the wheels...

Gary:
Service book?

Kieran:
The service book is all up to date.

Gary:
Great, so what did you say about the wheels?

Kieran:
They look like they have had a repair, the guy doesn't seem to know anything about it.

Gary:
Oh gawd, who's done those!

Kieran:
He doesn't know where it's been done, but he does know since he's had the car he's replaced the two front tyres. And that seems to be the only thing that could tie up with this problem here.

Gary:
Thats not going to be acceptable is it?

Kieran:
No it's not. I have said to the guy that he needs to address that with the people who did that at the tyre shop or we can refurb it for him, but I have also said that the charge is very similar to what it would cost to refurbish the wheels, he might want to leave it.

Gary:
ok, so call his lease company and find out of the charge is going to be the same as the charge for the refurb? But firstly, see if he can address this with the lease company... because something has happened obviously.

Kieran:
Yes, it would appear that the guys have scuffed it and tried to address it themselves. Because the customer doesn't know anything about this.

Gary:
Yeah, so this is the kind of thing he could have ended up with a bill for, which is fair enough because... I don't know if you can see in the film, but this isn't very good at all, it's all cloudy, looks like somebody has done it with an aerosol can.

Kieran:
Both front tyres have been replaced and both front alloys have got this problem on them, so...

Gary:
So he's going to adress, it's a little thing but it's better he does it now before it goes back. Great. Oh, I can see the other wheel is covered up there, but I can see the bottom. It's all cloudy, somebody hasn't done a very good job at attempting to hide some scrathces. Thats what it appears to be anyway, the man who is leasing it is going to check that out. I'll show you what that looks like when it's done.

***

Gary:
So the silver bit is done, it's just the lacquer to go on, am I right matt?

Matt:
Just the lacquer left.

Gary:
And your bits (scratches) come up quite well around the other side Kieran?

Matt:
Yeah, looks good now.

Gary:
You're just touching in the edge of that door now, it has a couple of little nicks on it? Obviously it's the right colour because Matt's given you the colour from this one, so it's coded and everything. And this scratch under here has completely gone hasn't it? That's come out really well. Just the dents to do, so what's happening with the dents, is Chris coming back?

Kieran:
Chris is coming back on Monday, we have the customer booked in again on monday, we'll get it turned around quite quickly.

***

Kieran:
There's the smart repair all finished. Looks lovely, should be able to return the car no problems at all.

***

Kieran:
Okay, the dents have been removed from the door, obviously they were beyond fair wear and tear so we advised the customer had them removed. There were at least four in that panel, so they have all been removed. They are all out so a good result.

[Chris removed two dents, and then removed the remaining two for free, even though they were a size that was acceptable.]

***

Kieran:
So the Honda is now the finished article. The smart repair has been done, the dents removed from the passenger side. And the scratches which were beyond 2.5cm have also been removed. That will now go back with no problems at all.

[The cost of repairing the wheels would have been slightly more than the recharge. So we advised the customer that they shouldn't be done in this case.]
