Paint on car exteriors
Most of the cars we see with paint splattered over the exterior were contaminated when paintwork was being undertaken nearby. Usually its only very fine spray that has contaminated the vehicle, but it can still be very difficult to remove, especially of its the kind of paint that is used on lamp posts, railings or the exterior of buildings.
Sometimes somebody will drive their car through paint which is on the road. This may be paint that has fallen off the back of a lorry, or it could just be the white-lining road paint. Other times, vandals will pour paint over a car or use spray paint.
First Aid Advice
If the paint on your car is water based and still wet you may be able to wash it off before it dries. Drive straight to a garage that has a pressure washer and try to blast it off. If you see that the paint is colouring the water then the paint is water based and it is safe to continue. If it doesn't then you are probably dealing with a solvent based paint -- trying to blast it off with water may only succeed in spreading it. So bring the car to us.
How much will it cost?
Some kinds of paint are easy to get off, some are extremely difficult and require special solvents. We can never quite tell how long it will take to remove until we have tried to remove it. So what we do is work on the car for half an hour, we can then phone you with a more accurate estimate of how long the rest of the car will take, although sometimes we can remove it within this hour.
|First ½ hour||£21.00|
|Each further ½ hour||£21.00|
|Material Costs per Hour - For specialist machines and products such solvents. Normal materials/sundries are in included in the hourly rate, eg detergents, masks & gloves.||£8.00|
|There's no VAT to be added to our prices|
Do I claim on my insurance?
Very few of these kinds of jobs warrant a claim because the vast majority of these can be done within 2-8 hours. In rare cases where it takes longer, just a call to the insurance company can turn it into a claim. We usually recommend that you call your insurance company first just so they know they are happy with you bringing it here. We deal with all the major insurance companies.
Multiple Vehicle Contamination
If you are unfortunate enough to be the person responsible for splattering paint
over lots of cars, don't panic! You aren't the first -- we often find that
this is the case.
We strongly suggest that you get at least one car done and returned to the owner as quickly as you can. In our experience, people go off looking for their own solutions and getting all sorts of advice -- often they will be advised that they need a respray. But once they see that one car has been done to the owners satisfaction, they will be happy to have theirs done too.
You can send them direct to us, or we can collect cars from anywhere in the country. See out Transport page for options.
Please don't hesitate to contact us. The more quickly you act, the more easily we can deal with accident clean-ups.
